From this site I have seen 2 posts, both claiming that evolution is wrong. The first I saw essentially says that, because the flood talked about in the bible actually happened that therefore god’s word and law must be correct. The second discusses the connection between Hitler, communism and Atheism and evolution.

Regarding the first post, just because a event described in the bible actually happened, does not make everything in that book true. Lets us assume for a moment that the flood happened, this proves neither that this was gods will, or that Noah filled a large boat with every animal on the planet, or that evolution is untrue. Floods are naturally occurring events that happen occasionally to this day, I can give you a recent example of one in Australia, approximately 2 years ago, there was a body of water traveling across the landscape flooding everything as it went, The body of water was the size of the UK.
On to the second post: Hitler is like many people, even today, that misread and misunderstand things that have been written. Islamic and Christian people misinterpret there particular religious texts to justify many things, like: racism, female circumcision, murder and enslavement to name a few. These people are no more justified in there actions or beliefs than Hitler or the various “Communist/fascist” regimes that you have referenced. A guy that bakes a cake and misunderstands the ingredient sugar as salt, is not going to end up with a edible cake, and you would not blame the author or cakes for the readers mistake.

I've never said that if the Flood occurred therefore the Bible is true. No idea where you get that. The Bible is true because it's God's word and the Flood was worldwide, not local, both because God's word says so and because its effects all over the world are obvious to the naked eye.

Seems to me that perhaps your naked eye has a thick film over it you might want to have attended to.

I am curious why you did not provide a plausible mechanism whereby these colored 'wet separated sediments' produce repeating layers. You offer but an unsupported assertion.
ReplyDeleteI've written many posts on this general subject; this one was just a toss-off because I thought the pictures very telling in themselves. There are many facets to the idea of the Flood and I try to deal with only those things I think I understand and leave the rest until some later time when I might understand them better.
ReplyDeleteThe best I've been able to do with the pattern of layering is to recognize that running water tends to lay down layers of separated sediments, a simple observation nicely in accord with the idea of a Flood big enough to produce layers of sediments on such a gigantic scale as we find them.
